WASHINGTON DC: Flights from Islamabad to Kabul have been reduced to three times a week and this was done on the request of Afghanistan.
In a letter dated 15th June, 2021 (yesterday) Mr. Saif Ullah Khan of Pakistan Embassy in Kabul while communicating with Director General Afghanistan, Iran, Turkey (AIT) (Mr Memon) through letter number Pol.2/4/2021-KBL stated that according to their earlier communication on June 1st that Afghanistan Civil Aviation Authority had verbally informed them that they have decided to reduce Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) flight from Islamabad to Kabul allowing three flights a week.
Mr Saif further wrote that “apparently the PIA flights have been reduced to invoke reciprocity.” Pakistan mission in Kabul has also asked that Afghanistan owned KAM Airlines flights be increased from once a week to three times a week.
“The mission recommends that the issue may kindly be resolved amicably by increasing Afghan flight to Pakistan. Afghani-stan’s KAM Airlines is ow-ned by Zamaray Kamgar, a little-known business tycoon of Afghanistan.
Pakistani mission in Kabul also suggested that the Director General of Civil Aviation Pakistan may contact his counterpart in Afghanistan “for resolving the matter.”
